About Pre Ordering the PS4:
The PS4 has been fully publicly acknowledged and now finally you can pre-order the PS4. The initial price is $399.
With the PlayStation 4 finally announced, we quickly get closer and closer to the release date. Of course, anybody who has ever paid attention to the release of a new console knows there won't simply be hundreds of them sitting around the store waiting to be purchased; everybody is excited to get their hands on the new next-generation console. Unfortunately, there will probably be more fans waiting the PS4 than there will be consoles available to purchase. With this in mind, anybody who wants to take home a PlayStation 4 on day one will definitely need to look into pre-ordering the console. It may be the only way to be sure you get a PS4 in time for the holidays.
Fortunately, there will be plenty of places to pre-order a PlayStation 4 console, each of which has its own email list to alert readers the moment the console becomes available for pre-order. First up in the list is the largest online retailer, Amazon.com. Like with its other pre-orders, Amazon may offer a deal as an incentive such as Amazon credit or even a free game. In addition, this is likely the best place to seek getting a pre-order; fans need not stand outside in a line, and there will likely be more consoles available for sale through here.
The next best place to get a PlayStation 4 pre-order would be GameStop.com. In terms of physical retail stores, this is likely the best place to not only reserve a console but to specify the store where it will be picked up on release day. The same can be said for other places to pick up pre-orders, such as Best Buy and Wal-Mart. However, given that neither store is a games specialty store, these two stores may not have as many copies available for reservation. Other stores that will most likely sell the PS4 but do not have websites up include Target, K-Mart and local game stores in your area.
Given that we have only recently witnessed Sony announce the console, it is difficult to say specifically when retailers will be able to officially open up reservations. What we do know, however, is that this is largely because retailers do not currently know what price to sell the console for; it is safe to say that whenever Sony finally announces how much it intends to sell the PlayStation 4 console for, all retailers should begin letting customers pre-order the console on a first come, first serve basis. While we do not yet know when Sony will announce this price, it seems likely that the E3 2013 convention would be a good time to expect this information. As soon as the price is announced, retailers will open preorders as early as minutes after the announcement so be prepared.
When pre-ordering the PlayStation 4, there are some general rules of thumb to keep in mind first. Above all, pay attention to retailers announcing the date that pre-orders will begin. Those who miss the first few minutes or are not among the first in line at a store likely will miss out on the opportunity to get a PlayStation 4 console this holiday season. Similarly, it is important to pay attention to the price that Sony announces for the console; attempting to get a pre-order from a source that sells the console for a higher price is most likely not a Sony-authorized retailer and is likely attempting to purchase the console elsewhere and charging you a higher price. Some examples include those selling pre-orders through classifieds and auction websites like Craigslist or eBay, respectively, but this can also occur through individuals selling the console through Amazon through the Amazon Marketplace.
Because Sony has not yet announced the price for the PlayStation 4, we do not yet know how much to expect in terms of cost. However, based on rumors that have been coming out regarding the PlayStation 4's 40,000 JPY Japanese price tag, we can likely expect the console to cost either $399.99 or $449.99, depending on the different models Sony releases. If retailers use a similar mechanic for pre-orders as with the PlayStation 3, then customers can likely expect to have to put down $100 or more in order to reserve a console.
The staff at PS4 Experts will update this page as soon as we know when retailers will begin allowing customers to pre-order the PlayStation 4 console. In the meantime, keep an eye on our PS4 Release Date Page and our PS4 Price Page for updates!
Update -- June 11th, 2013: Preorders Now Available @Amazon
The PS4 is now available for pre-order at Amazon.com. There are some fears that the PS4 will sell out before the holiday season.
Update -- April 12th, 2013: Preorders Available At Asda For The UK
United Kingdom supermarket chain Asda has announced that they have now opened up preorders for the PlayStation 4. PlayStation 4 potential customers can place a £20 deposit online to receive a unique code that will prioritize their place in line when PlayStation 4 preorders officially go live.
Keep in mind that the code does not guarantee you a system: Asda states the preorders will still be on a first come, first serve basis. All the code is guaranteeing you is an advantage of those customers without a code. Asda claims that due to factors that are out of their hands, such as limited availability of stock, not all customers who receive a code will get a system when it launches.
Asda claims the PlayStation 4 will be out around Christmas 2013 and has not given any other information towards price and date. However, the £20 deposit will be deducted off the cost of the system.
If you are in the United Kingdom and wish to preorder with Asda, you can do so here.

Update -- March 14th, 2013: Preorders Available Now For Australia!
If you happen to live in Australia, today is your lucky day! The Australian EB Games branch is giving its customers the ability to place a preorder for the system as of today. EB Games has set the preorder for 899 AUD, which translates into $933.16 for the US.
Keep in mind that Australians generally pay higher for games and consoles than other countries and that EB Games is clear that the price is just a placeholder. Chances are good the price is intentionally higher than what the company expects; it's easier to refund money for a higher price than charge customers more for a lower price which, in many cases, companies cannot do as a preorder locks you into a price.
If you're in Australia and interested in preordering the PS4, you can do so here.

If you're interested in preordering the console and live in the UK, you can do so in-store or from the GAME website.

new ps4 games to come should or shouldn't
i agree with my cousins post i saw somewhere? any ways they should take some older like games and make them cooler scarier emotional what ever and better graphics and sound to them that would be cool and maybe some other fetchers that would be awesome!!! for example Legend of the D. i loved that game when i was younger. if they did that even better DAM that had so great ratings already it even beat some of ps3 games if did it for ps4 in 1 or 2 disc instead of four that would be badass and i would be seriously impressed.
the new system
now that it is coming out in a while people are getting look at what could be for it and for me to say i am very disappointed than what i hoped for and wanted
PS3 VS PS4
If Sony states that developers have not truelly exposed the qualities of the PS3 and what it can do that shows that developers are way behind in game design. look at Gran Turismo5 its truelly 1 of the most immersive driving simulators and it was design by sony and gran Turismo6 was held back to be made for PS4
THE PS4
It looks awesome because it's like a big computer and her price is exebtible
MONEY
PS4 should cost 1000'000'000 :D
Why?
That is the only question.
everything about PS 3 or 4
I had PS2 it was great SOCOM US NAVY SEALS was a great game then is was killed but if the don't make SOCOM again the way it was with out the cheaters and coders I will not buy this one I sold my PS3 and got an XBOX ps4 will not be so good the games on PS3 sucked they don't even have that many games look how long it took for some games to come out if I could talk to these guys I would be able to make there PS4 so good XBOX fans would sell there XBOX and come over to PS4 and I could all so make there games ten times better trust me on that these old guys don't know what there doing half the time I'm 36 and played the first video games that came out and i think out side the box in more then 3D but they will never know what it takes to make a REALY GREAT GAME because they will know me it sad.
Um Really?
Dude, use a period will you? Considering your talking of how you know the industries inside out.Game Developers didn't want to even work with Sony on any games, because the ps3 had so complicated gaming software and coding that was so complicated, that most game Companies couldn't make games that were compatible with the system in able to play the games. The companies didn't even know where to start. So they went to Xbox because Microsoft had simpler components and had simpler coding to make games for so that's why the Sony released so few games for the ps3. Also if i remember correctly at the time it was cheaper to make Xbox games.
Right on
The ps2 Socom games, ALL of them, ruled...period.
I want to see how many bugs it come with?
Let see how many bugs will come with!,
Ps4
It looks awesome
how much!!!!!!! mazzie

Ps4 pre-order
EB games in Australia have been advertising pre-orders for ps4 for wait for it....... $899Aus which I think was about what the ps3 sold for when it was first released in Australia. That will make it the $599 no one was happy about last time. Very disappointing Sony. Check out the EB games Aussie web site and have a look for yourself. ebgames.com.au
cost
It will be roughly £400-£500
NOPE
i REFUSE TO BUY 1
like always i will buy both
like always i will buy both PS$ and the 720
then don't, why would you
then don't, why would you think that any of us care..?
Cant wait for the new and
Cant wait for the new and improved. Always wanting to get that excitement of experiencing new technology just to know what the future may bring.
mmmmm just a thought
i wish they would have thought of a custom game console idea that would fully revolution the gaming (console) industry and dont say that would turn them into computers and its not fair to customize your console if you have the money to waste why not. make it compatible or make an upgrade compatible to the next sytem it wouldn't be that hard to do and more economical to the companies stand point to customize the guts of the console to the users preference to further support my case i say this you could make people pay money for backwards compatibility and so on im sure everyone would be willing to pay a little extra to go back to ps1 or ps2 or ps3 games at say 50-100 dollars and the customization process could be based on games etc that you love to play or gaming styles and customizing the inside to support an upgrade doesnt even mean making a compatible control medium that could be done simply by a software upgrade it would be incredible advantageous and a new way to experience gaming that has never been tired with consoles before and it would set sony apart from every other gaming console which would provided it was done correctly make it the best console in the world simply get there acts together and be a revolutionary for the players sake

You clearly do not understand
You clearly do not understand why they are making it a "closed system". You can actually get more from your hardware if you design the hardware to work for one purpose. You are referring to a PC having the ability to change out hardware. This is not as efficient and you are actually spending more money to get something less effective.
Your point is not valid.
Better for consumers but not Sony...
If you make a console upgradeable, you effectively extend the life of the console. If the console has too long of a life then people will not buy the PS5, PS6, PS7 and so on and therefore this will mean less money for Sony.
However, I think your idea would actually work very well and be awesome IF... Sony was the only place that you could buy the upgradeable parts from. This way Sony still gets their money and the consumer gets more options. But if Sony is trying to compete with a whole crap load of other companies when it comes to buying parts then I think they will lose money in the long run because of competition.

hey guys
Ps4 will be very expesive and some people cant even afford one
It will be about £250 without
It will be about £250 without VAT, according to the sony websites. It might vary in different countries though. Fingers crossed. Eitherways, they are trying to keep it low-cost, meaning it shouldn't be as expensive as a PS3.
gv
you think?
ps4 is going to be awsome
because no telling what ps4 can do probably take gaming into a whole new world
yah
yah, most certainly
Speculation ONLY (Join in!)
1947.95 hours in 4 years at 6 hours per day (the US works the longest hours, so this is plausible) (about how long PS4 has probably been in the making). Probably what.. 200-250 people to design and make the game? I'd give them an average hourly wage of $16.00 give or take $3.00 (of course this would be in yen). So the total cost just to pay the employees? $6,233,440 - $7,791,800 and it probably cost, what.. well, they probably just have "profit percentage contracts" with the companies that they deal with, other wise it would cost around $200 to make a PS4 even with big discounts.
Let's just put initial total production cost at around $35 Million. If Playstation were to sell for $800 per console, it would take 43,750 to pay off the work that had been done. 3 years ago, PS3 had 33 million consoles sold. I'd estimate it at 50 million now. So let's say that they sold 10 million the first year (remember that the first day PS3 came out, it sold 81,639 units in 24 hours in Japan alone), that would be $8 BILLION the first year. So.. these are just small numbers, obviously, the manufacturing costs will greatly differ, I wouldn't be surprised if it cost 100's of millions of dollars to build the ps4 AND ship it all over the world.
With that being said, do you really still think that it will cost $800? Keep in mind that in the 2nd quarter of 2012, Sony had already had revenues of $81,683,335,000. That's 81 billion, 683 million, 335 thousand dollars.
So these numbers that shelling out are probably close to correct, all but the manufacturing costs. I say $599.
Don't Be Dumb, Save!
Hey guys! What's the worry?! Look, Christmas 2013 is FAR AWAY. If you guys really honestly think it will be $800 (trust me it won't be), start saving now. All you need to save is $53/month starting RIGHT NOW. That's mega easy, sure you might have to give up a friday night each month, but for most of us, we can continue living our lives saving for this PS3 without giving up anything. $53 is simply pocket change. C'mon guys, don't complain!
And about the "no used games" don't get mad at sony and microsoft, get mad at the people who STEAL STUFF ONLINE. I do it too, but honestly, we're the problem, not them.
THINK PPL
THINK ABOUT IT when the ps3 FIRST came out it was like 800$ so a ps4 will definitely be more then that even for the lowest GB it will probably be around 900$ which is stupid , and all new games are 60$ so ps4 games will probably be around 70 or 80. eventually game systems will only for the rich an thats makes me mad cuz we are already waiting for it to be released an then have to wait even longer for the price to drop :( . i think it will be released in december 2012 cuz they always release around christmas time , they did with the ps3 in 06 same with the 360
Seriously you need to think.
PS3 was a lot more expensive to make than it would be now.
TBH a higher specced machine with newer parts would cost much less than PS3 cost to make back in 2005/2006.
A more powerful CPU than the cell like an FX series Quad core could be bought by Sony for about £40, a GPU based on something like the HD 7870 would probably cost them less than £100.
Bluray was an expensive, new piece of tech when PS3 came out, it's dirt cheap now and would probably only cost Sony about £20 to put a 12x BD Rom in PS4.
All in it would cost Sony about £350 to manufacture and package a PS4 with the above spec, 2GB of VRAM and another 4GB of standard but fast DDR3 for system RAM would likely be major overkill in a console, but Sony could use GDDR5 as the RAM for everything, either that or DDR4, 2GB would probably be plenty of RAM, but 4GB to future proof the system more and we'd all be gaming at 1080p+ resolutions, with 60FPS and high to ultra levels of effects compared to PC in games, even in complex and highly detailed environments.
Being that consoles are closed systems developers can use more of the system's power for the performance of games next to what a similarly specced gaming PC could achieve.
Overall we'd be looking at a console with more than 12 times the power of PS3, just look at what Naughty Dog could do in a game like The Last Of Us or Quantic Dreams Kara Tech Demo, then imagine what they would be capable of with even more power and ram, we'd be seeing the graphical sealing reached at 1080p, so Avatar levels of graphics are quite possible.
Something like a poorly optimized Crysis, with all of the best textures and graphical effects even the most modded versions of that game can have would be easily doable on this hardware, especially when a game is made for such a system, this system would likely have more than enough power for games like that.
PS4 manufactured at that price, will likely make a loss for Sony at release (but likely not as much as PS3 did), just like PS3 did, so a release price of about £300 is likely or just under $500, maybe close to $450 with the cost of parts in different countries.
Even if PS4 was a higher specced machine it will likely not go above £400/$650 for the release cost to consumers.
BTW PS4 isn't coming out this year, if it was then it would've been shown at this year's E3, if PS4 was ready then it would easily take the wind out of Wii U's release, but nothing's been shown yet, so 2013-2014 is likely the release time.

Nice design
"make a combination product"
Those would be the stupidest game system names.
