Cyberpunk 2077: The First Great Game On The Playstation 4?

Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the hottest topics in gaming right now. What I am amazed by, is that the game seems to either be hotly anticipated by a gamer, or it's unheard of. There seems to be no middle ground. Still, this game has a very long road ahead of it. I am sure there is more than enough time for the hype train to build.

Cyberpunk 2077 is brought to us by the guys at CD Project RED. Who I am sure that most gamers will now be familiar with thanks to the success of The Witcher and The Witcher 2. Cyberpunk 2077, however is going to be a whole new ball game. It's worth noting that while it's the same studio that gave us the fantastic Witcher games, it is a different development team at the helm.

So what exactly is Cyberpunk 2077? Well it is actually based on a old school pen and paper roll playing game. The pen and paper game has been through 3 installments with the first one being released in 1985 and the last one released in 2005. There of course is multiple books for each release of the game. As well, there has also been some novels that have been written. So while the Cyberpunk universe may not be this huge house-hold name like say a Dungeons and Dragons style of role playing game, it certainly does have a dedicated audience.

In terms of the actual game, while I am sure that many people who are fans of the pen and paper games and the novels will be excited. I think this will open up a whole new audience to the world of Cyberpunk, myself included. In all honesty, I knew nothing about the pen and paper game or the novels until I heard of the video game.

So what kind of game is Cyberpunk 2077? To put it simply as possible Cyberpunk 2077 is a role playing game. But this is a role playing game that is aimed at a mature audience. The people at CD Project RED have not really said, but it has certainly got me very excited. Now this is just pure speculation here, but I think that with them saying that Cyberpunk 2077 is a mature role playing game, that they are not just going to fill the game up with violence, but with hot chicks and a ton of blood. I think that the mature aspect will probably be in the games story as the creator of the Cyberpunk pen and paper game is deeply involved with the production of the game. I think more importantly from the interviews he has given he seems really excited by the game.

The setting of Cyberpunk 2077 is in the fictional city of Night City which is by my understanding out on the west coast. Anyway by all accounts the guys at CD Project RED are going all out to make Night City one of the most detailed cities in a video game. Who knows when this game when is released it could be the first truly graphically breathtaking game on the PlayStation 4.

Not only is Night City going to be incredibly highly detailed. The games story will always have you wanting more. For me a role playing game has to have a good story. Sometimes I can easily put 50 hours into a good role playing game if the story grabs me. And from what I have read, the story in Cyberpunk 2077 sounds very exciting and interesting.

Night City is a steam punk style of world. Where mankind now not only has a ton of great weapons, but we also have enhanced our bodies with various cyber technologies. One of the early screen-shots that has been released of the game, shows a woman who looks like a model except she has these big mechanical blades sticking out of her arms that would make Baraka from Mortal Kombat jealous.

Of course nothing has been leaked about the story yet, and as the game is 2 years away I am sure this is something they will want to keep under wraps for as long as possible. One thing that we do know is that the Cyberpunk 2077 will have multiple paths through its intriguing and complex story.

So while there is not a huge amount of information so far on Cyberpunk 2077, I can hand on heart say that for me personally as a gamer this is the first game that has me excited for the next generation of video game consoles.

A Huge Chunk Of New Cyberpunk 2077 News! -- April 09, 2013
Without a doubt Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most anticipated games of the upcoming console generation, and despite the game not seeing a release until 2015, many people are still eagerly looking forward to the game. We've had some very interesting information which I am sure is going to get you even more pumped for this game!

First up lets talk a little about the horse power behind this game. We are talking about a brand spanking new game engine called REDengine 3. What the heck is the big deal about this? Well let me tell you that this is a game engine that has been created specifically with non linear, open world style RPG games in mind... Hold up a second, did I just say open world? Yes that is right my friends, it has now been confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will be an open world game. We already knew about the setting of Night City, and I think many of us just thought that was that. But nope, this is just the start of the game. I know I am very excited to see some of the other locations as well. Oh and if this was not enough to get you excited, it has also been revealed that the game will in fact have online multi-player.

Now the most interesting news piece, is something that really raised my eyebrows. How may times have you played a game or seen a movie where some guy is talking in a foreign language, but there are English subtitles? Well you can forget that for Cyberpunk 2077. In Cyberpunk 2077 if you walk past a Mexican person, they will be speaking Spanish with no subtitles to help you out. Now you either need to be multilingual or you can get your hands on what are being called a "transplanting implant". These will allow you to understand what people are saying, but there is a catch. You see, the level of translation you will get depends on the quality of implant you have. If you have a really good implant you may pick up some important information. However, if you have a low level implant then the translation may not be 100% accurate.

While it is still being slated for a 2015 release, each piece of news is making Cyberpunk 2077 sound like it's going to be one of the must owned games for the PS4.

Story Information Has Been Revealed -- April 08, 2013
The teaser trailer got gamers talking about this game. However, the story of what exactly would be going on in Cyberpunk 2077 was not really talked about in any detail. Now we do have a little idea of what to expect. Gamers will play the role of a man who is trying to drag himself up, in a city that is just full of filth and sin. While this has not really told us a great deal of detail, it does sound like this is going to be some kind of film noir setting, in a really awesome Cyberpunk world.

Cyberpunk 2077 To Have CGI Quality Graphics -- April 08, 2013
Many gamers, including yours truly, were very excited when the trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 hit the web. Lukasz Szczepankowski who is one of the lead designers on the game was really positive when talking about the games graphics. He said that the trailer was of course a CGI movie, but that it was also the starting point for how they want the "in-game" graphics to look like.
