Industry Heavyweights Weigh In On The PlayStation 4

Industry Heavyweights Weigh In On The PlayStation 4In this week's PlayStation 4 update, industry heavyweights such as Bobby Kotick and Ted Price weigh in on the PlayStation 4 along with what could be our first look at Gran Turismo 6!

According to the PlayStation Universe, Take-Two recently announced that the publisher is working diligently on an "extensive pipeline" of titles for the upcoming year. Having ended the recent fiscal year at about $1.2 billion in profits, it's safe to say that Take-Two has plans that will work out well as the publisher focuses on unnamed titles due on the upcoming PlayStation 4 console. Could one of these titles be GTA V? Possibly!

In an interview with IGN, Insomniac's CEO Ted Price commented "When it comes to PS4 I'm excited that they seem to be lowering barriers for independent developers. It's cool to see almost weekly announcements from Sony explaining how they're opening things up for indies." The company's next game, Fuse, will release on the PlayStation 3 at the end of the month.

On the other hand, Activision CEO Bobby Kotick seems to have other feelings with the PlayStation 4, believing the console will have a "slow start." According to The Escapist, the CEO is concerned that Sony's upcoming console has too many uncertainties surrounding its launch. "There are still many unknown factors such as pricing, launch dates and quantities, the level of first-party support and, importantly, consumer purchase intent in a world where consoles are no longer just competing with each other, but also with new platforms, such as smartphones and tablets." Even though Kotick doesn't know the price or release date, you will know as soon as it's announced at our PS4 Release Date page and our PS4 Price page!

Finally, the latest bit of news surrounding the PlayStation 4 console comes out of the Gran Turismo website, where a product listing for Gran Turismo 6 was discovered. Currently, there are no details surrounding this alleged title, but Joystiq does report that Sony is to unveil a driving game in the United Kingdom tomorrow. If Gran Turismo 6 is announced for the PS4, we'll have a complete look at the game on our PS4 Games page!.
