You may know the PlayStation 4 already beats the Xbox One in both price and sales, but did you know that the PlayStation 4 also bests the Xbox One in terms of energy usage?
A report from the Natural Resources Defence Council in the United Kingdom states that the Xbox One uses twice as much energy in the PlayStation 4 in standby mode. The PlayStation 4 has been cited as having a more efficient, i.e smarter, standby mode, which is why the system draws less power.
Noah Horowitz, a representative for the council, has made a public statement about why he feels both consoles use so much power: "Launch models are more focused on working well than on efficiency. We expect upcoming hardware and software revisions to bring efficiency enhancements, but the question is how much and how soon."
At the end of the day, the difference amounts to just a few dollars more per year when viewing your annual electric bill, but it's just more proof that Sony built the definitive next-generation console.
