PS4 Release Date - The Countdown Begins

First of all how do you know for sure the PS4 will come with an optical drive?
Maybe they already planned to start with the new media.

Secondly the thumbdrive being a final format for 40+ years is just hilarious, that is what they thought about CD/DVD/Blu-ray aswell but that did never happen. Unless you can predict the future that is just a random guess that is nor correct nor realistic.

I like to think of the PS1 and PS2 as a console wrought from the mind of a slightly mad genius inventor. It's the only way to be sure that it will be adopted by a crowd with the same mind bent.

The problem the PS3 had was that it was made by the direct intention to market BS*. The genius inventos of it didn't have that perspective, but the Executive assholes behind the idea of "not understanding the hell out of Cell" and just selling BS* simply wasn't there for them to halt.

5 years later, the marketeting BS* has all but been forgotten and game developers have sort of thinned out the ridicule set by "the Sony of 2005 under the wing of American Executives with Rubber Ducks" and firmly placed it on a level with Microsoft's Xbox360; from which Microsoft, unbelievably, for the first time in the game industry's history, listened to game developers.

Sony made a mistake.
They've paid for it.

But before we go all blind on their situation, let's make one thing clear:

The Cell architecture is an extremely strong, viable, candidate to resolving the problems of where gaming meets the potential of film, but keeping both ends of those threads seperate enough so that they don't trip over themselves.

Cell was an idea that was simply 10 years ahead of when it was needed. Sony used to be a think-out-of-the-boxd company that unfortunately made a critical mistake with that technology, and by its very nature, it became too important to fail and so they put too much into it to maintain that mistake.

The only idiotic thing Sony could do with the PS4 is copy Microsoft; because if they do that, Microsoft will simply extend their hand outward and crush them flat. Microsoft know they can do it. Sony do too.
So to even out that imbalance they do a "PS2" on the hand-held arena. Even the very jaded can't help but be truly impressed with the Vita.
Sony is the biggest risk-taker in the business and I thought that had died half-way through the PS3's intended use.

Sony need to go one direction, and let Microsoft go theirs and take what they earned, because I can still detect they are trying to combat Microsoft - it's pointless. If you push Microsoft the wrong way, they are going to give Sony are very, very difficult time to compete well enough in return.

Sony just need to go back in the direction they had with the PS1 and PS2; and let the deviation that was the PS3 run its course and allow it to do the best that it possibly can to allow the Playstation to get back on track.
They've done that.

When I realised what Sony were trying to do with Vita, it suddenly struck me what was happening; Sony is BACK. The Sony we used to hear about all those years ago. It's like something in their HQ said, "I don't care what it takes, get this damn company back on track; what Sony used to be."

The PS Vita is the telltale sign that the PS4 will hold, and uphold, the value of the PS2, because Sony have gone "mad genius" on themselves.
And that is an encouraging thought.

On a different track:
Game developers won't say it due to political "STFU", but they are tired of making games for the PC and listening on forums to what PC enthusiast gamers say about their games when they put millions into it and 3 years of their lives.

They also know that the PC gaming rig is a tired workhorse. A steam engine with all the size, pomp, and weight, but little of restrospect for its own extinction.
And the enthusiast backers of that era don't even know they have become fossilized in its support.

Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, IBM, Intel, AMD - they know this.
If no one can see what is happening right now, and in the next 2-4 years; it's because you don't know what you have become.

Unfied gaming systems will wipe out the PC gaming systems. I guarantee it.

its different because apple releases a new ipod every day, adding technology they could have put in the first one but why? They can just make a second,third,and 4th gen to makes shits loads more money from apple fan boys that buy them all.

It would most likely be a tablet wirelessly connected to the tv so you could chose it then set it down and play on the television.

Sony should wait until at-least 2013 to release it because all the new games are coming out now like MW3,BATTLEFIELD 3,SKYRIM, UNCHARTED 3 soo many more and sony you want to put it out by late 2012. KEEP IT UNTIL 2013

PS1 came out in 1994
PS2 out in 2000, 6 years after PS1
PS3 out in 2006, 6 years after PS2

Buy the BF3 PS3 System for $99. It's a good deal. Comes with the game, controller, and the system. Get it at Gamestop.com and pray there are still some left. Unless you get it used on ebay. Goodluck.

Besides my PS3 is 5 years old. Time for something new. Its your own fault if you came so late to the party. No reason to be upset dont forget it will take 1-2 years maybe until PS4 is in the stores.

i would save up to get a ps4 because then you will have just over a year to save up and in the mean time get a cheap ps3 of ebay or something.

Wait for what ? The price going down even more ? Its already at 250 and there will be most likely just another 50 decrease before PS4 releases. So no reason to wait at all. 250 is very cheap already, go for it.
