Square Enix has hosted their E3 showing and it’s time for another recap! Well, to be honest, there isn’t much to recap from the Square Enix show. It was less than disappointing, but there were a few good bits of info along the way. Bare with me though, this isn’t a great follow up to a bit so great event. Just saying.
We saw a little more about Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Not much to tell, but hey! There’s a video for you to watch, so if you’re really interested in the next Tomb Raider game, the video will peak your interest for sure. The game looks great.
Dontnod showed up again to offer a little more insight on the upcoming The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit. Basically the game is a bridge between Life is Strange and Life is Strange 2. The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit will release June 26, and is a complete and free title. I’m not sure what that really means, but I understand free.
Babylon’s Fall was revealed as an upcoming title. I'm not sure what it is, but it was announced, so there’s that. It will release sometime in 2019. Let me know what you think of the trailer.
Just Cause 4 made another appearance during the Square Enix show, after being announced during Microsoft’s set. A little more detail of the title surfaced and it’s surely going to be a hyped title for fans of the series.
The Quiet Man was also revealed during the show SE show today. It appears to be a cinematic story-driven game. It’s also been to be completed in one sitting, so I don’t know. Maybe this is just an experiment to see how gamers respond?
We were treated to a new Dragon Quest XI video. Outside of a couple other announcements that don’t really add up to much, that was the end of the Square Enix showing. Pretty much a bust, but something is better than nothing.
Up next is the Ubisoft recap. Ubisoft definitely had a better showing than Square Enix, but I think Square Enix gave too much of their offerings to Microsoft and Sony. Had they kept all their Kingdom Hearts trailers and revealed Just cause 4 during their own show, they would have at least had a better show. Maybe next year.
