Before the launch of the PlayStation 4, Sony made a bold claim that it expected to sell over three million consoles by the end of 2013. When the console broke a million units during launch week, that goal seemed in reach, and with Sony's most recent sales announcement it seems the company will definitely obtain its lofty goal.
A few days ago, Sony announced that it has sold 2.1 million PS4 units in all territories, with 700,000 of those sales coming from Europe, Australia and other countries in the eastern hemisphere.
How does this compare to the Xbox One? Microsoft announced that within 24 hours of launching the console, it had sold one million units in 13 countries, a far cry from the PS4 selling over one million units in the United States alone during its launch. Microsoft has declined to issue new numbers in light of Sony's most recent announcement, leading some to believe that the Xbox One has fallen far behind the PS4 in terms of worldwide sales.
What do you think, PS4 Experts readers? Just how far is the Xbox One lagging behind the PS4? Let us know in the comments!
