Last night, Bethesda Softworks' website updated with an interesting addition: the placement of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One listings appearing on the Skyrim website. Could we be seeing a Skyrim port to the PlayStation 4?
VIDEOPC-like architecture . A potential PlayStation 4 version of the game would most likely feature increased graphics, akin to the PC version's Ultra settings. It's a given that the game would include all of the DLC as well, akin to the Legendary Version available on the PlayStation 3 .
Above is a video comparing the low graphic settings on the PC to the Ultra settings to give you an idea of the graphical increase.
But this is all hypothetical, because we don't even know if the game is coming.
This morning, Bethesda's own Pete Hines took to Twitter to deny the rumors, stating it was just a "website error":
But this doesn't mean anything. We constantly see leaks of games get denied, only for the company to unveil the game proper shortly after. Skyrim was a million seller and the previous console versions were far behind the PC version in terms of graphics: something the PS4 version could rectify and it's a given a lot of fans would double dip.
Our opinion? Expect a formal announcement soon, now that the cat is out of the bag.
