Worried about getting a PS4 if you are one of the unlucky few who didn't preorder? No need to worry, as Sony Computer Entertainment of America president and CEO Jack Tretton has proclaimed that he expects three million PlayStation 4 consoles to be sold by the end of 2013.
While this number is not just for the United States, but rather for the world as a whole, it's still a very large number considering that there is really only a month left in 2013 (give or take) after the PlayStation 4 launches. By March 2014, Tretton expects over five million PS4s to be in homes worldwide.
For Sony to hit this number, it means the company needs to be pumping out PS4s regularly, so don't expect any console shortages this holiday season.
In fact, many Black Friday ads are leaking across the Internet and seemingly every retailer is promising PS4s on Black Friday. While GameStop is claiming the system is sold out until next year and pushing customers to preorder to guarantee they get one of the fabled "next shipments," this is most likely a ruse to guarantee sales as the PS4 should be easy to find if Sony truly wants to push three million consoles in a month.
PS4 Experts readers, do you think its possible for Sony to sell this many consoles in a month? Do you think the PS4 will be this much of a success? Let us know in the comments!
